Performance Motors Sponsors Entrepreneur Award

Performance Motors Limited (PML), the authorized distributor of BMW cars and motorcycles in Singapore, is sponsoring The Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 Award, a nationwide initiative by the Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Rotary Club of Singapore (RCOS).
As a Gold Sponsor, PML is taking the lead in the automotive industry to be a driving catalyst for entrepreneurial development in Singapore.
"Sponsoring this Award allows Performance Motors the privilege of spurring local entrepreneurialism. Through our partnership with ASME, a not-for-profit organization, and the RCOS, we are proud to support Singapore's commitment to develop our SMEs' entrepreneurial excellence on both a local and international stage," said Mr Simon Rock, Managing Director of Performance Motors.
"We honour entrepreneurs whose ingenuity and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures - the same values that have helped propel the BMW brand and PML's automotive business to a leading position in the premium luxury segment," Mr Rock added.
The search for The Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 involves a judging process that comprises an in-depth evaluation of potential candidates' entrepreneurial history and the performance of his or her enterprise. Award judges examine both qualitative and quantitative figures and records provided by the candidates in the form of audited information, which will also include the financials of the company.
Another unique element of the Award is its focus on the societal contributions made by the candidate through his or her enterprise. This is in line with one of the Rotarian objectives in serving or being a leader in service to other members of the community.
The top candidates who will compete for the overall title of The Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 will be announced at a Press Conference in July 2006, while the overall Award Winner will be unveiled at the Award Presentation Ceremony in September 2006.
This 18th Edition of The Entrepreneur of the Year is also supported by pro-enterprise government agencies such as SPRING Singapore, IE Singapore, EDB and a host of other sponsors from relevant organisations within the local business community.
Past Award recipients include Dr George Quek of BreadTalk Group Ltd and Mr Ronald Teng of Ban Leong Technologies Ltd - among the top strata of the Award's alumnus they have scaled greater heights since taking part in the Award.
Last year, Mr Erman Tan, CEO of Asia Polyurethane Mfg Pte Ltd, and Mr Thomas Ting, Managing Director of TJ Systems (S) Pte Ltd, emerged as joint winners of The Entrepreneur of the Year 2005, while Dr Tor Lam Huat, Chairman of L.D. Waxson (S) Pte Ltd, received a Special Mention for his outstanding stewardship of his company.
