BMW Powers to the Top of the Singapore Luxury Car Market
18 January 2006

For the first time ever, BMW is the leading premium car brand in Singapore.

The brand has established a decisive lead over the competition in 2005 with 3458 cars sold. This is an increase of 18 percent compared to 2004. At the same time, a total of 165 MINI cars were sold in 2005.

Launched in May last year, a total of 561 units of the new generation 7 Series were sold, in the process becoming once again - for the fourth consecutive year in Singapore - the segment leader.

Revisions to the 5 Series, including a new line of 6-cylinder engines and some interior trim changes, saw it become a runaway sales success, clocking 1334 units.

The new BMW 3 Series continued the successful trend: previewed in late March and launched to the public in mid-April 2005, sales of the new model flowed quickly, with 1123 sold.

"These are outstanding results. I would like to thank our customers for the trust that they have placed in the BMW brand. My thanks also go to Performance Motors Limited for the terrific job that they have done," said Mr Roland Krueger, Managing Director for BMW Asia Pte Ltd. "This success is great motivation for us to continue to strive for excellence in our products and services," he added.

The Leader in All Luxury Segments
Mr Simon Rock, Managing Director of BMW's authorized distributor in Singapore, Performance Motors Limited (PML), added: "BMW has proved yet again what it has demonstrated year after year - namely that there is no substitute for quality. Its models are the class leaders in Singapore."

"I wish to thank our loyal and new customers that have joined the BMW family, BMW Asia for its continued close support of our business, and last but not least the dedicated team at PML for working tirelessly to attain these exceptional results. This is verification of our commitment to only the highest standards of customer service," he added.

- BMW brand sales in Singapore totalled 3623 cars in 2005, comprising 3458 BMW and 165 MINI cars.

- The results see BMW Group cars smashing the previous record in 2004, when sales in Singapore reached a record of 3,086 cars, consisting of 2,922 BMW cars and 164 units of MINI.

- Performance Motors Ltd (BMW's authorized distributor in Singapore) in an industry first, initiated the '7 series Privileges Programme' - an exclusive, premium lifestyle package that accords 7-Series customers distinct privileges that include golfing, resort getaways, chauffeur services as well as driver training and car grooming services.

- Other industry innovations included the introduction of the BMW Service Inclusive (BSI), a maintenance package that covers servicing and maintenance work plus original BMW parts, oil and labour.
