First class drives for world’s top golfers

November 1, 2007

Performance Motors Limited (PML) is proud to announce its partnership with Barclays Singapore Open 2007 as the official limousine partner.

Held at the Sentosa Golf Club from 1-4 November 2007, the verdant greens of the newly refurbished and award-winning Serapong course will test the mettle of all competitors, who will be vying for the prize purse of US$4 million (S$5.93million).

As the authorised distributor of BMW, PML will be sponsoring a fleet of 50 units of the flagship BMW 7 Series that will be used to chauffeur pre-eminent figures in the international golfing arena. The stellar line-up includes four of the world’s top 10 players, Phil Mickelson (No. 2), Ernie Els (No. 5), two-time defending champion Adam Scott (No. 6) and Choi Kyung-Ju (No. 10), amongst other renowned professional golfers.

As one of Asia’s leading golf tournaments, this prestigious event is set to place the spotlight on the Republic as a premier golfing destination and PML is pleased to play an integral role as the Barclays Singapore Open grows from strength to strength. Participants in the tournament will be chauffeured in ease, comfort and style.

While this is the first time that PML is in partnership with the Barclays Singapore Open, golf is a sport that has always been close to the hearts of BMW drivers. Mr. Simon Rock, Managing Director of PML said, "We are honoured to be the official limousine partner of this prestigious tournament. The BMW 7 Series has always stood for luxury, performance, sophistication and technological advancement, drawing parallels with golf as a sport that calls for etiquette, composure and perseverance."

About Performance Motors Limited

Performance Motors Limited (PML) is a member of the Sime Darby Group. The company is the exclusive distributor of BMW cars and BMW motorcycles in Singapore since 1979.

In 2006, PML has continued to set the pace; again topping sales in the luxury segment with BMW sales in Singapore increasing for the third straight year, representing a 74% jump in sales compared to 2003.

The strong growth has resulted in record-breaking sales for BMW cars. A total of 3,680 BMW vehicles were sold here in 2006 (MTA figures).

The latest generations of the BMW 3 and 5 Series yet again proved to be sales successes in their segments, generating over 70% of BMW sales in Singapore with figures of 1,357 and 1,274 units respectively in 2006.

The BMW 7 Series limousines, used to transport world leaders during the recent World Bank meetings, continued its successful trend with 753 units sold last year.

The results follow BMW’s decisive lead over the competition in 2005 with 3,458 cars sold, which established BMW as the leading premium car brand in Singapore.

In 2003 and 2004, PML received awards from BMW Asia in recognition of the BMW 7 Series’ segment leadership. In 2005, PML added to its collection of BMW awards with the Best Sales performance in the Asia region.

In an industry first, the company initiated the ‘7 Series Privileges Programme’ – an exclusive, premium lifestyle package that accords BMW 7 Series customers distinct privileges that include golfing, resort getaways, chauffeur services as well as driver training and car grooming services.

PML currently has three strategically located BMW Centres in Singapore.
