Performance Motors Receives Top BMW Sales Award

SINGAPORE – Performance Motors Limited (PML), the sole distributor of BMW cars and motorcycles in Singapore, has received an award for Best Sales Performance in the Asia Sales Region from the BMW Group for the first time.

The award recognises PML’s efforts in helping to establish BMW as the leading premium car brand in both Singapore and the Asia Sales Region in 2005.

The BMW brand established a decisive lead over the competition in Singapore during 2005 with 3458 cars sold. This was a record increase of 18 percent compared to 2004 and was the first time that BMW topped the premium car segment.

Strong Track Record
“Our sales records have reflected a very steady increase in sales for many years, but last year was our best ever. I wish to thank our loyal customers, our colleagues at BMW Asia for their strong support, and the commendable dedication of our team, in achieving this result,” said Mr Simon Rock, Managing Director of PML, on receiving the award.

In 2003 and 2004, PML received awards from BMW in recognition of BMW 7 Series segment leadership.

Mr Roland Krueger, Managing Director of BMW Asia said: “I wish to congratulate Performance Motors for its commitment and outstanding performance. With the sales achievement, more BMW cars have been sold here in Singapore than anywhere else in S.E. Asia. We are the leader in the premium car segment and we will continue to work hard to stay in pole position in Singapore.”

Class Leading Sales

In Singapore the new generation BMW 7 Series, launched only in May last year, garnered a sales total of 561 units, in the process becoming once again – for the fourth consecutive year - the segment leader.

The BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and 6 Series also saw class-leading sales in their respective segments.

Up to April this year, BMW is leading sales again in the luxury segment. With 1300 (prev.yr: 653) BMW automobiles sold, sales rose by 99% - almost double that of the same period last year. Sales registrations of BMW cars notched up 285* units in January, 362* in February, 336* in March and 317* in April.

New model introductions have included the 177bhp, 6-cylinder BMW 323i saloon and 367bhp, 8-cylinder BMW 650Ci sports coupe and cabriolet.

This year will also see PML and BMW Asia supplying more than 420 units of BMW 7 Series Limousines as official car for the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, to be held in Singapore during September.

This major, international financial conference will see the new generation BMW 730Li used to chauffeur heads of governments, finance ministers, central bank governors, top financiers and chief executives to meetings and seminars.

PML will also provide driver training and round-the clock technical service for the duration of the meetings.
