Sales of BMW cars continued to rise in the first quarter of 2006, after a record number of 3458 BMWs were sold here last year. With 983 (prev.yr: 509) BMW automobiles sold, sales rose by 93% - almost double that of the same period last year.
Sales of BMW cars notched up 285 units in January, 362 in February and 336 in March.
New model introductions have included the 177bhp, 6-cylinder BMW 323i saloon and 367bhp, 8-cylinder BMW 650Ci sports coupe and cabriolet.
Mr Simon Rock, Managing Director of Performance Motors, said: ”Due to strong customer loyalty we were able to maintain sales momentum. The excellent reception to our Asian Aerospace cars at the start of 2006 gave us the impetus, and with our Singapore 2006 7 Series initiative now generating impressive sales we are optimistic that this will be another good year.”
The Managing Director of BMW Asia Pte Ltd, Mr Roland Krueger, added: ”Thanks to the continuing support of our customers and the very good work put in by our partner, Performance Motors, these good results yet again prove that BMW, as the world’s most successful manufacturer of premium automobiles in terms of volume sales, is clearly distinguished in the market through its unique concept of luxury and driving dynamics.”
